MISSIONS COMMITTEE
WE ARE BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING TO OTHERS

For 250 years, Pennington Methodists have lived their faith through missions, following in Jesus Christ's footsteps, serving humbly and giving generously. And, as we journeyed, we have received New Life through the Holy Spirit.
The path of discipleship has led the missions committee to seek opportunities to help change lives, to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. We sponsor food pantries in Pennington, Trenton and Camden and Trenton; we collect food, blankets and books for the Rescue Mission of Trenton; we distribute fresh produce at two PUMC-Trenton summer farm markets; we provision and serve a hot breakfast to 150-200 food & shelter insecure persons at Turning Point United Methodist Church in Trenton every third Saturday of each month.
After church worship, our congregation is invited to be part of that mission by assembling personal hygiene bags for 100 persons as well as feminine hygiene packs; annually we send greeting cards to our shut-ins and care packages to our college students at exam times. Our committee buys diapers for Maker's Place in Trenton. We also give annual college scholarships to three young people in the Urban Promise Trenton program; we mobilize our congregation asking for donations to send to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee for Relief) for suffering people all over the world, in war zones, in places where natural disaster has caused fires, flooding, loss of housing, food and water.
We are blessed by a very generous congregation, all of whom we recognize as missionaries!

FEBRUARY, 2025 - Three Pennington churches recently launched their first Interfaith Missions project by delivering more than 130 boxes of breakfast cereal to the food pantry atRescue Mission Trenton. Working together to feed their neighbors, the three churches are First BaptistChurch of Pennington, St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, and PenningtonUnited Methodist Church. Trenton's Rescue Mission has long been a refuge for the city's struggling people. The food pantry, an integralpart of Rescue Mission Trenton, feeds morethan 70 families a week, all at no-cost to patrons. The mission provides many other services, including food and shelter, mental health/addiction counseling, clothing, health assistance and housing. The Pennington churches together plan to continue giving to the food pantry, following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.
